CLASSES
BALLET
Is the core of all Dance styles.
Ballet is an artistic dance form using precise and highly
formalized technical set steps and gestures. Students will learn ballet using the Cecchitti Method. In order to advanced in these classes, students must receive teacher permission.
TAP
Have fun making noise developing your rhythm, style and sound. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. Class emphasizes
developing proper Tap Technique and producing clear tap sounds.
HIP-HOP
Is high energy, athletic, popular dance style originated on the streets in the late 80’s with break dancing. Hip-hop classes infuse the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking.
ACRO
This class combines the athleticism of gymnastics & the art of dance! Acrobatics is the art of controlled movements using the flexibility of the back, legs and shoulders. Acro involves difficult feats of balance, agility and coordination, easily making it one of the most beautiful art forms.
POI
POI is a type of Polynesian dance performed with tethered balls,
swung rhythmically in beautiful patterns. The Maori people of New Zealand used Poi to increase their strength and flexibility in their hands and arms as well as improving coordination.
HAWAIIAN
Students will learn the gentle and flowing movements of Hula Auana. Danced to contemporary music or the traditional ukulele.
LYRICAL
Is a fusion of Ballet and Jazz Techniques. A Lyrical dancer's movements attempt to show
meaning of the music while telling the story through every
movement made. All Lyrical students must also take Ballet.
Christian Dance
Classes focus on a spiritual connection with God, while using dance movements for expression. Each class will start and end with a group prayer. Christian music, biblical elements and storytelling will be used in theperformance. Lyrical,
Contemporary, or Modern dance styles will be applied to the class.
BALLET REPERTOIRE
Students will learn dances from various Ballets and famous
stories. This class will perform several numbers on stage as a mini production. Students can only sign up for this class if they are currently signed up for another Ballet class.
COMPETITION
Students are required to audition for a spot on our Competition
Team. Students will show their
technique, flexibility and showmanship. These students are held to a higher standard and are committed to the team for one year.
CONTEMPORARY
Developed during the mid 20th century and has since grown to become one of the dominant genres for formally trained dancers throughout the world. This expressive dance style combines elements from several dance genres including Modern, Jazz, Lyrical and Classical Ballet. Dancers in this genre strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements.
POINTE
Is the advancement of ballet class to hard boxed pointe shoes. Students advance to this class
depending on their muscular and skeletal development, as well as their dedication to practice. All Pointe students must also take a Ballet Technique class. *To enter this class students will need to pass our Pointe Exam.
JAZZ
Curriculum is based on Ballet Technique layered with traditional Jazz movement. Explore various styles of Jazz such as Broadway, Street and Contemporary.
STAGE CREW
Create props/backgrounds for performances (especially Ballet Rep). The Stage Crew will also work backstage at performances learning all things backstage! This class is perfect for students who love all aspects of the stage!
